Shoppers Super Discount is the kind of store some people really love.
Dominique has worked here 11 of the 15 years she's lived in the area. She is the only one there most days, all day, every day. She is saving to buy her own house in a suburb, she wants to be independent from her family. She used to leave her 9 hour shift and go work at the airport, but that was too much work she said. She said the only significant thing she's observed in the neighborhood is more condos and richer people. Mostly all the same people come to her store though. She also said she wasn't interested in art and didn't know any artists (didn't have enough time). But I haven't honed my interviewing skills and I'm sure she would have had more to say if I knew what to ask. She was very relaxed and easygoing. She hadn't noticed the galleries around. She is mexicana/filipina, she said she wasn't going to go to the lucha libre show because she was too busy, but that her friend went sometimes.
